UberScoot Electric Scooter Overview

If you want great off-road scootering but not to spend much on an electric scooter, the UberScoot is here for you. It’s the best choice of off-road electric scooters under 1000 bucks. For this price, you won’t find a better scooter that can handle all terrains like this one.

The overall performance is great for scooterists no matter for commuting or extreme riding on trails outdoors.

Power Performance – For Thrilling Riding Experience

Given its position as an all-terrain scooter, the UberScoot packs a very powerful brushless motor that can generate nominal 1600W power. Its motor power beats most middle-class electric scooters at its price range, making it one of the best budget and most robust electric scooters.

This massive motor enables it to reach a fast top speed of 30 miles per hour, not as fast as those scooters with the same level motor, such as Apollo Ghost, which also packs with a 1600W motor but will go at a faster top speed.

But 30mph is still impressive for daily commutes and getting around. Most users on Amazon praise this speed is fast enough for a thrill experience. Some adults bought this scooter as a toy for outdoor activities. And if your child wants to have a try, make sure the speed restrictor is working to limit the top speed suitable for a child, though it’s not very recommended for a small child to ride on the UberScoot 1600W.

Acceleration

It takes more time to speed up the UberScoot, about 5 seconds from zero to 15 mph. The 1600W motor is powerful enough for a fast acceleration but not as good as those high-end models like the Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11, which needs only 1.9 seconds to accelerate from zero to 15 mph.

The heavy-duty body might be another reason for its relatively slow speed up. The UberScoot electric scooter weighs over 100 pounds, even three times heavier than most lightweight folding scooters.

Hill Climbing Ability

The manufacturer didn’t state the grade that the UberScoot is capable of, but after testing, we find that it is able to handle long and steep hills around the community. Some Amazon users support this data for testing a 45-degree hill, even though it does not successfully complete the whole climbing, at last, stopping at ⅔ on the slope. This proves UberScoot’s ability to climb high-graded hills from the side.

It’s not surprising that the speed slows down when climbing a slope, generally at 20 mph or even slower if the rider is a bit heavy.

Climbing hills consumes the power fast, which results in reducing the mileage overall. This will cause a badly negative drawback of the UberScoot – short range.

Battery and Range

The UberScoot is powered by four 12v / 12ah Sealed Lead Acid batteries. The sealed Lead-Acid battery is less efficient but features a bigger size and weighs more, that’s why the UberScoot has a sturdy and heavy-duty body.

The UberScoot is able to go only 12 miles at most on a single charge, only half of the long-range scooters in the same price range. This is less impressive for its motor and speed performance, less appealing compared to those entry-level cheap scooters with 36V Lithium-ion batteries, with a price as low as $300.

Another drawback is the battery life. Sealed Lead Acid batteries have a shorter life, which is just one of ten to the Lithium-ion battery. The UberScoot battery supports only 250 cycles for charging. After that, you’ll need to change the batteries.

Luckily, the manufacturer offers great customer service. You can contact them to change the battery before the scooter is shipped.

Another disappointing thing about the UberScoot is the charging time. The battery is not large but still requires 6-8 hours to charge it fully. This is even two times longer than the average of the 36V Lithium-ion battery, which needs only 3.5-4 hours to fully charge.

Ride Quality – Conquer All-Terrains

The UberScoot 1600W features two large 11-inch pneumatic knobby tires, making it one of the best e-scooters with big wheels. You can expect more than that. The all-terrain tires make the UberScoot capable of all road conditions, hills, gravel, dirt, grass, on road, off road.

The 11-inch off-road tires are more than big, but also wide and fat, giving the riders a very comfortable riding on the UberScoot, even on bumpy roads and trails.

The manufacturer boasts of the UberScoot comes with an advanced front “Cam-Link” suspension and adjustable rear twin-shock suspension system. Suspension is buttery smooth on most decent pavements or flat roads but can handle big bumps as well sometimes. But some experienced riders don’t think it’s good enough for scootering outdoors and change the suspensions to more efficient ones.

The disc brakes on the front and rear work efficiently to empower the UberScoot for stopping when needed. Among all the disc types, disk braking might be the most efficient one, but not all riders like it. Some UberScoot users upgrade them to cable-actuated hydraulic brakes for smooth and moderate stops.

Build Quality – Sturdy and Bulky

At first glance, you’ll know that the UberScoot is a very sturdy and bulky electric scooter, the large and wide tires, a thick and cumbersome deck. The construction looks very strong with good quality and robustness. The manufacturer boasts of its high-grade steel-built frame for its superior design and quality welding.

The large tires and thick deck make the UberScoot have a lower center of gravity, enabling the scooter for ultra-stable riding, no matter fast or slow you ride on it. The BMX-style handlebars are not adjustable according to the rider’s height but offer easy maneuvering for both tall and short riders.

We feel a bit disappointed that the scooter does not feature a display on the handlebar to show you the speed and battery data. This makes the UberScoot very like an old-school-style electric machine, not a modern electric vehicle, even though the whole scooter looked very cool on the roads.

Deck

The chunky deck is the major factor for UberScoot’s weight. It’s the place where the four packs of 48V SLA batteries are located, then you should not be shocked that the UberScoot electric scooter features a bulky body now.

The deck is spacious enough to have your feet on it, even good for big feet guys to stand up on the scooter. As a seated electric scooter, there must be a location to attach or mount the seat on the deck.

The UberScoot supports mounting the seat in the screw way, so there is a spot on the deck near the rear tire to install the seat.

Portability

The UberScoot is foldable with a kick-up style, but not very portable. The easy-folding design allows you to fold the scooter up in seconds. You just need to unlock the folding mechanism and pull the handlebars back to the rear fender.

However, the scooter after folding is still very clumsy, with dimensions at 46” x 25” x 21”. This size is not friendly for storage on the bus and train, and even the trunk on some small cars. Not just the size, but also the heavy body adds the difficulty for people to carry the UberScoot, which weighs whopping 117 lbs.

Lights

The bright headlights are mounted to the post at the top, near the handlebars. This allows you to have a clear insight if you need to ride at night or in dark environments and increases the visibility to let others notice you.

There is also a red braking light on the rear fender to remind the people around you of the tip. The rear fender seems slightly larger and wider than the rear fenders used on the majority of scooters in the same price range. This is very useful and can work as a mudguard if you ride the UberScoot electric scooter on muddy roads.

Actually, there are three small lights – green, yellow, and red, for battery indication, and you can find them on the right side. When the battery volume decreases to a desperately low level, the red light turns on for a reminder that it needs the power juice now.

Is UberScoot electric scooter waterproof?

No. Even though the company does not tell the water-resistance IP rating, the UberScoot 1600W electric scooter is good to ride on wet roads anyway. The large tires ensure the scooter has a higher clearance for better safety to avoid water splashes from the ground.

After testing to ride it in the rain a few times, it doesn’t seem to have negatively affected the scooter in any way. However, there are a few wires in the battery compartment placed in the deck that could get wet due to a small space left even when the compartment is closed. You can easily solve that with electrical tape.

Is UberScoot electric scooter good for heavy riders?

Yes. The UberScoot 1600W model supports a max load capacity of 265 lbs. This weight limit ensures the scooter to have a spot on the best electric scooters for big guys.

Thanks to its robust design, riders who are slightly heavier than 265 pounds can still ride on it for an extreme ride experience.

Bonus – with a Seat Included

The UberScoot is one of the best electric scooters with a seat, which is included in the pack by default. This means that you can save 80+ bucks, as most high-end models provide a seat as an additional option and you need to purchase it separately.
