Emove Touring Scooter Overview

Emove scooters are the best budget models on the market, with great features at a reasonable price. Emove Cruiser is the best option under $1500, while the Emove Touring is one of the best choices under $1000, a good competitor to Segway Ninebot MAX.

Some traditional brands and manufacturers have a good reputation in the scootering industry, like the Segway and Razor. Some new game players just entering the scooters make the most use of the mature technology, doing well in balancing the performance and price, like the Emove and Apollo – we have reviewed its budget model – Apollo City.

After we review the Emove Touring’s performance, ride and build, we’d like to compare it to the other two models – Segway Ninebot MAX and Apollo City.

Emove Touring Power Performance

Motor and Top Speed

The Emove Touring does not pack with a powerful motor like those high-end models. The 500W motor can output 750W power at peak, allowing the scooter to reach an impressive top speed of around 25 miles per hour.

The 25-mph top speed enables the Emove Touring to have a spot on the fast scooters list, but not ranks top. After all, the 500W motor is relatively weak compared to the pricey models.

They are the test results from the company’s data. Actually, the speed may vary depending on the real riding environments, the road conditions – smooth or bumpy, the rider’s weight – average or heavier.

Acceleration

The less powerful the motor, the longer time the acceleration. This is a precaution for you not to expect a quick speeding up for Emove Touring. Based on the tests, the Emover Touring needs around 5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 15 miles per hour. Not bad! At least, it supports a zero start to reduce the acceleration time.

Scooters that do not support zero start takes more time to speed up. They need you to kick it off at the very first and allow you to use the throttle for speed after reaching the minimum speed requirements.

Climbing hills

The Emove Touring is very suitable for riders who live in hilly areas. Its grade ability is not the best, but not the worst. It is capable of going uphills of 15-degree, very acceptable in its price range.

Even not able to tackle the steepest hills in the US, but good enough to handle most gentle slopes in the cities. The small tires block the Emove Touring to provide a comfortable ride experience on trails.

Battery and Range

The Emove Touring packs with a 48V 13Ah battery from LG, which is a reputable battery manufacturer in the scootering industry. A top-shelf and quality battery ensures you believe that it’s going to last no matter where you go.

Just wake up! As an inexpensive e-scooter, the Emove Touring is not going to beat its upper-level model – Emove Cruiser, which is able to go as further than 62 miles at most.

We think the 25-mile range is a reasonable and acceptable long distance in its price range. It’s good enough for both short-distance daily commutes and last-mile transportation.

You don’t need to worry about its battery burning out, as it takes only 3-4 hours to charge it fully for another 25 miles of riding.

Ride Quality – Comfortable and Safe

Tires

The small 8-inch tires might be the biggest drawback of the Emove Touring. We don’t expect larger tires than the Emove Cruiser’s 10-inch wheels, but the 8-inch is not something we can imagine. After all, cheaper models like Xiaomi M365 still feature two 8.5-inch tires.

We know that larger and wider tires will offer a smoother and more comfortable ride. The 8-inch tires – Pneumatic for front and solid rubber for the rear, may give you a tough riding experience on the Emove Touring scooter.

Suspensions

Luckily, it has a triple suspension system, which might be helpful in reducing the bumpy feeling when riding on uneven surfaces, or roads with potholes. The manufacturer boasts of its trip suspension system – front stem suspension, front dual spring suspension, and rear dual suspension, to be the most comfortable in its price class.

It has a good point anyway. Few midrange scooters feature triple suspensions.

Brakes

The Emove Touring features a relatively weak braking system – only rear electronic and drum brakes. Drum brake requires minimal maintenance. You don’t need to do much to the brakes, which is different from the mechanical or hydraulic brakes that required tuning it every once in a while. However, the drum brake is not as efficient as the disc or hydraulic brakes.

Another benefit of drum brakes is that it generates a lot of kinetic energy when the Emvoe Touring is moving. When the brakes are applied, the kinetic energy generated has to go somewhere. And the regenerative braking converts the kinetic energy when decelerating back into stored energy in the LG battery built in the Emove Touring.

Build

The Emove Touring features a slightly muscled body with a clean kick-style design. The large main tube and spacious deck, along with the tough folding switch, mainly contribute to the sturdy appearance. The peripheral areas of the deck and folding mechanism are unbent, giving the Emove Touring a tough impression at the first sight.

There are various color options available for choosing – red, black, orange, white, and purple. You may pick up one that most suits your style.

Deck

Thanks to the manufacturer’s fast response in upgrading the scooter, the Emove Touring features a long (22-inch/56-cm) and wide (7-inch/18-cm) deck. It provides much space for the riders to put their feet on the platform. Combined with the non-slip surface, the Emover Touring offers a stable standing up for safe and comfortable rides.

Even though the scooter has two small tires, the manufacturer designed the Emove Touring with a high deck clearance of 13 cm (7-inch), ensuring the deck from wet grounds and dust.

Lights

Compared to the standard light system – one bright front LED lamp and red braking lights on the rear wheel, in a great majority of scooters, the Emove Touring has more lights – front sidelights under the deck, for a more clear insight of the road conditions on the front.

This scooter does not have colorful mood lights under the deck, but still good enough to have the additional sidelights to get obvious notice if you need to ride it at night.

Portability

Featuring a folding design and lightweight body, the Emove Touging is very portable and handy. The manufacturer took the portability and last-mile travel into consideration when designed this scooter.

The Emove Touring dimensions at 43 x 8 x 11.5 inches (109 x 20 x 29 cm) after folding up. It’s very compact to store under your desk in the office or around a corner in your apartment. It’s probably to store it in the car trunk and take it in trains or bus, thanks to the foldable handlebar. Yes, the handlebar is also folding, reducing the width to the deck’s width after folding.

The Emove Touring weighs about 39 lbs (17 kg). This weight is not easy to carry around for most people. But compared to those heavy models, 39-lb is still acceptable within the weight range of one-hand or two-hand holding. It’s just not that easy to do this like carrying a scooter less than 30 lbs.

Weight limit

The Emove Cruiser is friendly for heavy riders, especially for big guys weighing over 300 pounds. It can carry up to a maximum weight of 330 lbs, which is also good for people who prefer to ride a scooter for shopping. As long as the highest load capacity of you and the goods do not exceed the weight limit, it won’t do any harm to the scooter’s performance.

Actually, scooters work normally even if the overall capacity overweights a bit of its highest weight limit. Only the scooter’s speed and range might be affected slightly. For example, you may not reach the fastest top speed of 25 mph, or not going the furthest mileage of 25 miles.

Is Emove Touring Waterproof?

No, it’s just IP54 water resistance. The IP54 is the basic level of the scooters in the water-resistance performance. It means that water splashes won’t damage the Emove Touring, but you should be careful if you’re riding on wet roads. Do not get the water into the scooter, like the deck and tires, where the most important components – battery and motor, are located.

Bonus – Emove Touring Accessories

If you want to change your throttle preferences and customize your own style for the Emove Touring, the other thumb and twist style is available. You can purchase them separately to make the Emove Touring your own.

A detachable seat is also available to turn the Emove Touring into a seated scooter.
